Hey everyone—hope you’re having a beautiful day. I need to be honest: I’ve been struggling lately. A lot of my dogs are getting older, and watching them slow down has been really hard.
Running The Asher House Sanctuary and Asher House Wellness was never supposed to be easy—it’s the hiring, the tough decisions, the heartache, and yes, the regrets that sometimes overwhelm me.
This morning, on the way to the vet, I had a breakdown. It felt like every worry I’ve been carrying exploded at once.
I reached out to a dear friend—someone whose faith I deeply respect—and he reminded me of something profound: the universe (or God, however you see it) doesn’t burden us with challenges we can’t handle. He believes we face hard times so we can share our journey and help others who are also hurting.
That hit home. I’ve always felt separate from people but connected to animals—and I’ve always wanted to help both. If my struggles can spark hope or a smile for even one person, then the pain isn’t wasted.
I know there’s no such thing as perfect “balance.” Life doesn’t pause if you’ve had a rough day—your animals still need care, bills still need paying, and the world keeps spinning. Real balance is showing up, doing the work, and believing that today’s “leg day” (in life’s gym) builds the strength you’ll need tomorrow.
So if you’re hurting right now, you’re not alone—and you’re not weak. These trials are part of your story, part of your purpose. Lean into them, learn from them, and when you’re ready, share what you’ve learned so someone else can feel less alone, too.
Thank you for letting me share my truth. I love you all—and together, we’ll keep moving forward.
Love,Lee Asher & the Asher House Wellness Team
