Lee Asher on How Rescuing Dogs Rescues Us
We’re so proud to share that Lee Asher, founder of The Asher House and Asher House Wellness, was recently featured on the “All About Change” podcast by the Ruderman Family Foundation. In this moving conversation, Lee opens up about his lifelong dedication to animal rescue and how his work with dogs has shaped his approach to natural wellness, connection, and purpose.
A Life Shaped by Rescue
From an early age, Lee found refuge and meaning through his bond with animals. What began as visits to local shelters became a lifelong calling to help dogs heal—and, in many ways, to help people heal through them.
He shares how his own feelings of isolation and difference growing up led him toward rescue work:
“Nothing ever felt like I fit … if it wasn’t for me feeling like such an outcast, I never would’ve started running away from school and going to the animal shelters and feeling like I found my purpose with animals.”(rudermanfoundation.org)
Through that journey, Lee discovered what he calls the human–dog connection—a relationship that goes far beyond companionship.
“The dog and the human bond is one of a kind.”(rudermanfoundation.org)
This belief continues to guide everything we do at Asher House Wellness—from supporting dogs in every way we can to developing wellness products that help pets live longer, calmer, and happier lives alongside their people.
From Rescue to Wellness
Lee’s experiences in rescue work inspired him to create Asher House Wellness, a brand dedicated to improving the health and happiness of pets and their people through natural ingredients, daily rituals, and trusted supplements.
Our mission is simple: to make wellness a shared journey. Each Asher House Wellness product—whether it’s our CBD oils, functional chews, or complete pet wellness bundles—is built on the same compassion and consistency that helped countless rescue dogs transform.
Just like in the sanctuary, small daily acts of care lead to big changes over time. That’s the heart of both rescue and wellness: showing up every day with love, patience, and trust.
A Shared Purpose
Lee’s story reminds us that rescue is more than an act—it’s a mindset. It’s about creating a world where every dog feels safe, seen, and loved. And for Lee, that extends into how we care for our pets every single day.
Through the non profit animal rescueThe Asher House and through our online business of Asher House Wellness, Lee continues to show that wellness starts with connection—and that when we nurture our pets, we nurture ourselves.
