Hey everyone—Lee here! I hope you’re having an amazing day. I get asked all the time, “What made you take the biggest risk of your life—quitting a steady job, going broke, and diving headfirst into animal rescue and holistic pet wellness?” Today I want to share that turning point, because I know it can help you live your purpose too.
1. The Moment of Truth
I’ll never forget that first year on the road, broke and anxious. I’d lie awake worrying, “What if I can’t afford my dogs? What if I lose everything?” My heart would race, my chest would tighten—and I wondered, why would I choose this path?
It wasn’t about starting with the right product or the perfect formula for our vet-approved joint chews. It was about confronting the fear of death—or more precisely, the fear of not truly living.
2. Childhood Fears & the Sinatra Incident
When I was seven, I saw on TV that Frank Sinatra had died. I didn’t understand death—where did he go? Could it happen to me? That uncertainty gripped me for years. I’d even leave class in a panic, overwhelmed by existential anxiety.
3. From “Waiting for Your Turn” to Finding Purpose
At 28, while volunteering at a crowded shelter, it hit me like a thunderbolt: “You’re waiting for your turn—just like these dogs waiting for their final visit.” I realized my fear wasn’t about dying; it was about living without purpose.
The turning point came when I decided:
To inspire people to embrace compassion and conscious living.
To save animals through rescue, rehabilitation, and the power of holistic pet wellness.
Once I committed to that mission, the anxiety eased. I wasn’t waiting—I was doing.
4. Embracing the Tests
Choosing purpose doesn’t mean the road is easy. The universe will test you—over and over. My tests come as broken fences, medical emergencies, or new rescue intakes that stretch my budget. But each challenge taught me resilience:
“This is what it takes,” I’d tell myself. “This is how you grow.”
Now, with every setback—whether refining our natural allergy relief chews or expanding pasture space for our rescued goats—I lean into the test, knowing it fuels growth.
