Hey everyone—I hope you’re having a beautiful day and an incredible week! I’ve been out here taking a walk with the dogs, doing a bit of traveling and a few meetings, and something sparked my attention that I wanted to share.
Every State Has Good People
About a week ago I saw a video of someone bashing a state he’d just visited—calling the people unfriendly, unwelcoming. I won’t name which state, because I don’t want to spread that negativity. What struck me, though, is that I’d just been there myself—and found the exact opposite: warm, genuine, kind folks.
In fact, I’ve literally been to all 50 states, often in our RV and converted school bus for The Asher House meet-and-greets and adoption events. I’ve shopped at local markets, filled up at gas stations, and asked strangers for directions—and every time I make eye contact, smile, and say “Hi, how’s your day?” I’m met with a smile back 99.9% of the time.
That simple moment of connection—a brief greeting or wave—can light up someone’s day and remind them that people really are good.
Be First to Be Kind
Here’s the key insight: don’t wait for kindness to find you—be the one to give it first.
Smile first. Lock eyes, offer a nod or wave.
Say “Hi” first. A second of genuine attention shows you care.
Lead with light. Where you see darkness, shine even brighter.
When someone doesn’t smile back, don’t judge an entire city or state by that one interaction—you never know what they might be facing. Maybe they just lost a beloved pet or are going through a hard time. A little kindness from you could be exactly what they needed.
Why This Matters for The Asher House & Asher House Wellness
At The Asher House sanctuary, we rescue dogs—often from their darkest days—and watch them blossom when they feel compassion and care. On the flip side, our Asher House Wellness e-comm community thrives on positive energy, sharing vet-approved supplements, calming chews, and holistic pet health tips that unite people and pets in wellness.
Just as a simple smile can transform a stranger’s day, our wellness products are designed to uplift your pets—helping anxious pups settle, senior dogs move more comfortably, and families experience the joy of having healthy, happy companions.
