A breakdown of why we moved - From Lee Asher and Asher House Wellness

Hey Asher House Wellness family—Lee here! A few of you asked why we moved from Estacada, and I apologize for not addressing it sooner. Today I want to give you the full story.

1. We Outgrew the Space

When I first found that 25-acre property, I dreamed of a true farm sanctuary for rescue animals—dogs, cats, rabbits, even goats and pigs. In just a year and a half, our holistic pet wellness mission took off faster than I ever imagined. We hit thirty dogs in the house at once! As much as I cherish every wagging tail, that cozy farmhouse simply couldn’t accommodate more rescues, farm animals, and the growing staff we needed to care for them.

But with thirty pets under one roof, there wasn’t room to expand our herd or introduce new species—parrots, miniature pigs, barnyard cats—without sacrificing health, safety, and serenity.

2. Location & Logistics Challenges

Our Estacada spot was beautiful—but too remote for reliable support:

  • Emergency response: Our nearest veterinary clinic was over an hour away. When a senior rescue suddenly needed urgent care, every minute counted.

  • On-site services: Electrician? Plumber? Tractor repair? Scheduling any routine maintenance took days, sometimes weeks, due to flaky cell service and poor Wi-Fi.

  • Team & volunteers: Few people were willing to make the long trek for daily farm chores or weekend social-media events. Even setting up an Instagram Live required a 20-minute drive into town!

3. Emotional Well-Being & Healing

Rescue work means celebrating wins and experiencing heartbreaking loss. In that small farmhouse:

  • Every room held memories—Sammy’s last nap spot, Stubbs’ favorite window perch, and countless other rescues.

  • As someone who values mental health and mindful living, these constant visual reminders made it hard to focus on new life, new healing, and the wellness within that fuels me.

Moving to a larger property let us honor those memories while creating fresh spaces dedicated to rehabilitation, recovery and quiet reflection for both pets and animals.

4. Space to Grow the Sanctuary Mission

Our new 240-acre Asher House Wellness Sanctuary gives us room to:

  • Build pasture-based grazing areas for rescued cows, goats, and sheep—aligning with our sustainable farming values.

  • Create dedicated cat cottages and aviaries for parrots and exotic rescues.

  • Host educational farm tours, pet adoption events, and holistic wellness workshops for families and animal lovers.

In Gratitude & Excitement

Estacada welcomed us with open arms, and I’ll always be grateful for those early days of optimism, learning, and community support. But it was time to scale up, deepen our impact in the animal rescue community, and broaden our holistic wellness offerings—for every paw, claw, hoof, and human heart that joins our journey.

Stay tuned for a full video tour of the new sanctuary. I can’t wait to show you every barn, pasture, and healing garden we’re bringing to life. And if you thought our Estacada sanctuary was special, get ready—because the best is yet to come.

Thank you for believing in me, our sancturary and the Asher House Wellness team. Together, we’ll continue to rescue, rehabilitate, and innovate—one life at a time. 🐾❤️🌱
